Weddings I Love

8 Jun

Someone posted this wedding on The Knot.  I can’t believe all the wonderful photos.  There’s no denying that I have been so flippin’ emotional lately.  Say the word “wedding” and I involuntarily start to well.  This couple is so gorgeous and their wedding so vibrant and fun, I wish I was a guest.

Below are a couple of my favorite pics.  Although really, they’re all great.  This photographer is fantastic.  I think he’s in DC.  If I was in DC, (if I could afford him), I would hire him to shoot my wedding.

Exiting out of the ceremony. They look so flippin' happy.

It just gets better. They seem to enjoy each other so much. I absolutely LOVE this photo.

I love when the subject is off-centered.

Another must-have shot.

Her bouquet is vibrant and pretty. Against the red backdrop - flawless.

Wedding party picture. Wonderful photo.

I love candid shots like this that tell a story. Capturing these moments is the mark of a true professional.

Okay, I’m done blubbering.  This wedding looked AMAZING.  The photograpghy is AMAZING.  This gives me something to strive for in terms of my wedding.  I know you’re not supposed to compare your weddings to others, but I just hope I can pull something even close to this off.

Photo Opps

2 Jun

I’m working through my wedding to-do list and I’m at the line item where I need to make a list of must-take photos for my photographer.   I love photojournalistic style pictures.  I love when pictures look natural and the photographer has the talent to capture real moments.   I have looked at must-take photo lists from The Knot and must-take photo lists from About.com: Weddings, to make sure I have the moments I want captured.

I’m on the hunt for the “perfect” location to take wedding party pictures.  I want something that is visually interesting and not just a garden or in a field somewhere – who knows, that may happen.  I’m looking for a street scene or restaurant or some deserted building where we could get some really good photographs.   The problem I run into is that Fiance is a very private person and does not like to be the center of attention.  He likes to remain low-key and can’t fathom a large group of people staring at him in his tux.  Me?  I couldn’t care less.  I’ll show them how it’s done. ha!

I know that I’ll probably get criticized for seemingly looking for a backdrop to our wedding pictures and some may say that a wedding is not a “photo opp”, well, aren’t weddings photo opportunities after photo opportunities?  When will you have the chance to get as many family members, extended family members and friends together in one place at one time, dressed up and in the mood for fun?  When?  What a perfect opportunity to take time to capture those true moments, that will live on.

Here are some samples of photography I like and some must-take photos for the occasion.

We’ve been Blogged!

26 May

Red, white & Blue!

So our photographer Fixed Focal Photography have blogged us!  I have no idea how excited I would or why for that matter.  Jon and Ashley are absolutely amazing to work with and were really affordable.

Our engagement session was scheduled on a Sunday in March.  Fiance and I wanted to do something fun and have a different backgrounds, so we decided on Nickiemoto’s, a mid-town sushi restaurant and Piedmont Park.  We (I) wanted to tie in our wedding colors of navy blue and orange and wanted to also tie in the red, white and blue colors that go with the Fourth of July, that’s why I brought in the red balloons.  We also brought in some “props.”  We had a flower bunch, balloons – both red and orange, white, blue, etc. and an umbrella.  Which actually worked really well, because it started to sprinkle a bit.

My sister, younger brother and me!

In addition to our engagement pic session, we also had a family portrait session.  Where my mother, younger brother, sister, son and I gathered for pictures.  I didn’t want anything too formal, I wanted a more natural setting.  I think these came out great and I couldn’t be happier.

So, if you’re in Atlanta or its vicinity, I highly recommend calling Jon & Ashley for a consultation and consider them for your wedding photography.  You won’t be disappointed.  At.All.
